MOTHER (Mother Iggy) is the Solana meme coin launched by rapper Iggy Azalea in May 2024, one of the defining tokens of the celebrity coin wave.

MOTHER, branded Mother Iggy, is a Solana meme coin launched in late May 2024 by the Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, who rushed out the official token to front run an unapproved presale being run in her name by celebrity coin handler Sahil Arora, hitting a $26 million market cap within 24 hours. Alongside daddy tate, it anchored the summer 2024 celebrity coin wave, and it is unusual among celebrity coins in that its founder remained publicly engaged with it for years afterward.

Origin

Azalea launched MOTHER in May 2024, adopting "mother," internet slang for a commanding female icon, as the ticker and framing herself as the mother of the movement. The launch was a reaction to a threat: celebrity coin handler Sahil Arora, after talks with Azalea's manager about a paid token deal, ran an unapproved IGGY token presale through his Telegram group XO, expanding it from 100 to about 1,000 wallets and collecting over $380,000 in crypto. Azalea denounced him in a series of since deleted posts and rushed out the official MOTHER launch to front run him, hitting a $26 million market cap within 24 hours. Arora appeared to cash out while presale buyers waited on refunds. Azalea's sustained posting, engagement with crypto Twitter, and promised integrations (including use in her telecom and gaming ventures) then drove an explosive June. CoinDesk reported one trader turning about 3,000 dollars into roughly 9 million dollars during the run. Analysts also claimed wallets had bought about 20 percent of MOTHER's supply before Azalea's public announcement and had dumped about $2 million within days; Azalea has maintained the launch was independent of Arora and disputed the insider trading characterization. The launch also drew criticism typical of the era, with onlookers questioning celebrity coin insiders generally; Azalea distinguished herself by continuing to promote and defend the project long after the initial pump.

Market history

Within weeks of launch the token surged past a 200 million dollar market capitalization; CoinGecko records the all time high at about $0.2306 on June 6, 2024, with coverage citing a fully diluted valuation around 227 million dollars around the same time. A brief rivalry with Andrew Tate's DADDY followed, which FXStreet covered as DADDY dethroning MOTHER in mid June. MOTHER then slid with the rest of the celebrity cohort, punctuated by occasional rallies, including a late 2024 bounce covered by Yahoo Finance. The Arora association has continued to trail the coin: an April 18, 2026 thread by 0xRarest listed MOTHER alongside JENNER and JASON as coins Arora "did," an accusation made in the context of Arora's arrest that month rather than a settled fact. Azalea's role at Thrust, a Solana celebrity coin launchpad cofounded by Jake Antifaev, previously founder of the hemp startup Mood, was announced November 5, 2025: as creative director she planned to migrate MOTHER to the platform by the end of 2025, with 1 percent of tokens reserved for community airdrops and events. The Block reported her framing the move as a stand against pump and dump celebrity launches, with Thrust pitching legally enforceable, vetted celebrity launches with no bonding curve; streamer N3on, co owner of Azalea's MOTHERLAND casino, launched first on the platform, and Megan Fox was reportedly in talks for an Art Basel launch. The same period Decrypt reported a class action lawsuit, filed May 5, 2026 in the Southern District of New York by Wisconsin resident Kenneth Kolbrak and represented by Burwick Law, alleging the promised utility never durably arrived: the MOTHERLAND online casino launched in January 2025 but used tether for wagering instead of MOTHER, users allegedly could not buy phones or pay bills with MOTHER at her Unreal Mobile telecom, and a promised DreamVault marketplace never launched; the complaint also questions undisclosed relationships with market makers Wintermute and DWF Labs. No ruling had issued and no response from Azalea's side was public at the time of reporting. By August 2026 MOTHER had printed an all time low of about $0.0006853 (July 28, 2026), traded more than 99 percent below its peak, and carried a market capitalization around $728,000 with daily volume down to a few hundred dollars across Raydium and Orca.

Cultural impact

MOTHER is the celebrity coin that stayed. Where most stars of the 2024 wave deleted their posts within weeks, Azalea kept building in public, learning trench vocabulary, sparring with critics, and eventually taking a formal industry role, which made her a genuine crypto Twitter character rather than a drive by promoter. Decrypt named her its SCENE 2024 Person of the Year, a mainstream marker of that arc. In the trenches MOTHER is invoked in both directions: as evidence that a celebrity can commit to a community, and, via the lawsuit and the Arora allegations, as evidence that promised utility and clean launches are the most dangerous sentences in a meme coin. The community still runs the "she stayed" defense years later: in a July 9, 2026 thread under Ansem, @playmatejaylene wrote "the only one that stuck around and made an effort was @IGGYAZALEA," while @aidenfknrich argued "$Mother is and always was different, @IGGYAZALEA grinded hard on that and team is still active today. Most of the coins launched at the top before solana went down 80%." Its duel with DADDY remains the canonical memory of the celebrity summer of 2024.
