Mr. Miggles is a cat meme coin on Base that grew out of a Coinbase creator rights campaign and a purrLabs announced IP license, reached a computed peak market capitalization of roughly 184 million dollars in November 2024, and lost its community lead to a new Robinhood Chain project in August 2026.

Mr. Miggles (MIGGLES) is a cat meme coin on Base that grew out of a Coinbase campaign built around a viral video of a Himalayan cat in 2024. Unlike Toshi's or Brett's unofficial fan tributes, Miggles carries a real, if one sided, corporate paper trail: in December 2024 purrLabs, a Silicon Valley entertainment company, announced via press release that Coinbase had authorized it to build a Creator Fund around the character, a claim never independently confirmed by Coinbase itself. The coin reached a computed peak market capitalization of roughly 184 million dollars in November 2024, a run a self identified former community lead later described from inside the project as taking Miggles "from $200k mcap to $180M, twice." On August 7, 2026, that same lead announced walking away from Base to launch a new token, $BULL, on Robinhood Chain, citing two years of disappointment with "the direction Base has taken."

Origin

Mr. Miggles originated from a Coinbase campaign built around a viral video of a Himalayan cat, released in 2024 to highlight themes of digital ownership and creator rights. The token itself launched after that campaign, framed by the project as "a fair, community driven meme with no presale, no KOL allocations, and no airdrops." DexScreener's earliest recorded trading pair for the current MIGGLES contract dates to mid July 2024, consistent with that mid 2024 origin.

The purrLabs license

On December 16 to 17, 2024, purrLabs, a Silicon Valley based Web2 and Web3 entertainment company, announced via press release, syndicated through Chainwire and, under a purrLabs byline, through The Defiant, that Coinbase had authorized it to build a Creator Fund around Mr. Miggles, meant to route related revenue to builders, artists, and musicians. The same boilerplate language was re syndicated across several other outlets. No independent Coinbase blog post, official press release, or Coinbase account statement confirming the license has been found; every trace of confirmation originates from purrLabs' own messaging. purrLabs has continued to describe itself as "Coinbase's First Official IP Licensee" in later PR, suggesting an ongoing relationship, though it remains unconfirmed directly by Coinbase. purrLabs' CEO, using the handle @0xf0rce, discussed the license and the planned Creator Fund in an interview published the same week. Miggles has kept a public facing conference presence since, appearing as a returning sponsor brand at MEMECON in Lisbon in June 2025.

Numbers that anchor

Mr. Miggles reached an all time high price of 0.1913 dollars on November 17, 2024, on a circulating supply of about 960 million tokens against a 1 billion maximum supply, a computed peak market capitalization of roughly 184 million dollars. That figure was independently corroborated from inside the project: on August 7, 2026, a self identified former community lead posting as @comfyrelax, whose X bio read "CTO'd @mrmigglesonbase," wrote, "Running a CTO from $200k mcap to $180M, twice, with barely any supply, taught me lessons that you can't learn anywhere else." The two figures, 184 million computed from price data and 180 million self reported, describe the same peak rather than two different events; the "twice" detail, describing two separate community takeover cycles, is not otherwise documented in press.

Miggles has fallen sharply since. As of August 2026 it trades at a market capitalization of about 2.7 million dollars, DexScreener, roughly 98 percent below the computed peak.

The August 2026 defection

On August 7, 2026, in a two post thread published within the same minute, sometimes described as spanning August 7 to 8 across time zones, @comfyrelax announced launching a new token, $BULL, on Robinhood Chain's launchpad Pons, addressing "the future of $MIGGLES" in the same breath: "Nothing changes in terms of how I feel about Miggles. It will always be my 1st project... That said, over the last two years I've become increasingly disappointed with the direction Base has taken and how many opportunities were fumbled that were right in front of them. I still hope both Coinbase and Base succeed in the long run... But I'm no longer willing to sit on the sidelines waiting for an entire ecosystem to change. Me and the core Miggles team would rather keep building than spend months hoping for a change that might take years to materialize." The account's bio at the time also listed "Proud member of The Herd @bullcoinrh," confirming active, ongoing involvement with the new project rather than a one off comment.

Legacy

Miggles stands as the one Base cat coin in this history with a documented, if one sided, corporate relationship to Coinbase, distinct from Toshi's unlicensed tribute and from BASECAT's informal Coinbase personnel attention. Its 2026 founder departure for Robinhood Chain places it alongside BALD in the small set of Base coin stories the trenches now cite as evidence of Base losing builders to rival chains.
