MYRO is a dog themed meme coin on Solana, named after Myro, the real pet dog of Solana co founder Raj Gokal. Launched in November 2023, it belongs to the first generation of the Solana meme coin revival, the cohort that formed around ecosystem mascots and founder adjacent lore in the months after bonk proved the chain could still produce winners, and it peaked near 440 million dollars in market value in March 2024 on the back of a Binance futures listing, before fading through 2025 and 2026.

Origin

The joke predates the token by more than a year: in late October 2022, Gokal tweeted "oh so you didn't know about my dog Myro 'Solana' Gokal? zero utility, guaranteed," a self deprecating riff on his own dog that the November 2023 token later tokenized. The token's contract went live on November 8, 2023, according to CoinLore, in the same week that Silly Dragon and other mascot coins were minted and days before dogwifhat. The premise followed the pattern set by Ethereum's Kabosu derived dog coins: attach a token to a dog with genuine proximity to the chain's story. Myro the dog belonged to Gokal, who had no formal role in the project; the coin was community created and traded on that association rather than on any endorsement. A self styled team built marketing and community programs around the dog through late 2023, positioning MYRO as Solana's friendly, approachable dog coin against the more absurdist tokens of the era.

Market history

MYRO climbed through the winter of 2023 and exploded in the broader Solana meme run of early 2024, at one point ranking among the top three Solana meme coins by market value according to CoinGape. Techopedia recorded a roughly 540 percent surge over thirty days into March 2024, helped by a Binance futures listing that paired it with dogwifhat in the exchange's first wave of Solana meme derivatives. That listing was more one sided than the pairing suggests: Binance Futures launched the MYROUSDT perpetual contract on March 5, 2024 at 08:30 UTC with up to 50x leverage, in the same announcement wave that opened spot trading for dogwifhat later the same day. MYRO's presence on Binance stayed derivatives only, while WIF received the spot listing, a gap that mattered as the two coins' paths diverged over the following two years. On the day of the futures listing, The Daily Hodl measured MYRO up about 13,370 percent since its November 2023 debut. CoinGecko records the all time high at about 0.44 dollars (precisely about 0.4428 dollars) on March 8, 2024, which against a circulating supply near one billion implied a peak market value around 440 million dollars. The token then bled with the rest of the first wave as attention rotated to pump.fun launches; by 2026 it traded more than 99 percent below the peak, with a market capitalization around 2 million dollars. CoinGecko records an all time low of about 0.001242 dollars on June 24, 2026, about 99.6 percent under the peak; as of August 19, 2026 the market capitalization sat near 1.9 million dollars, with trading volume led by GroveX, PumpSwap and KuCoin.

Cultural impact

MYRO codified the founder's dog trade on Solana. Together with fellow November 2023 launches it demonstrated that the chain's meme economy could support multiple large dog coins at once, and its Binance listing in March 2024 marked one of the first times the centralized exchange tier reached down into Solana's native meme cohort. In the trenches MYRO is remembered as a defining first wave coin that never handed off to a second act: unlike bonk, which kept reinventing itself, MYRO's identity stayed pinned to its March 2024 peak, and its long decline is often cited in debates about whether mascot coins without continual reinvention can survive attention rotation.

The coin's own account, @MyroSOL, kept a living voice on X well past its 2024 cohort, which mostly went quiet. Through July 2026 it was still posting "doggo szn 2.0" calls, joking "i was pretending to be ansem for a min. now i'm back to being a dog," and needling fellow trader SolJakey with old receipts, giving MYRO an unusually persistent community presence for a coin trading over 99 percent below its peak.

Gokal's association with the dog has also made him a repeated target off the coin itself. In May 2025 he warned that attackers were repeatedly trying to take over his email and social accounts, saying that any token launch or funds solicitation appearing to come from his handles would mean "hackers got through." In May 2026 the hacked Instagram account of the rap group Migos was used to leak his driver's license and passport alongside the taunt "You should've paid the 40 BTC."
