Andrew Tate is a British American former kickboxer and internet personality whose memecoin role includes coining the word "retardio" and personally driving the DADDY token from a 40 percent supply transfer through a 400 million token burn and into a 2026 ultimatum for new coin launches.

Andrew Tate is a British American former kickboxer and internet personality whose most lasting mark on Crypto Twitter is linguistic: mocking the trader trading_axe in a January 2024 exchange, he mangled "Remilio" into "retardio," coining the word that named the retardio coin and became general trench slang. He went on to become the public face of DADDY, the pump.fun coin he promoted from June 2024 after a single transaction moved 40 percent of its supply into his wallet, later burning 400 million of its tokens worth about 110 million dollars, and he continued demanding supply and fees from new coin launches into 2026 even as DADDY itself decayed to a fraction of its peak.

Andrew Tate's broader biography, kickboxing career, legal history and platform suspensions are extensively documented on Wikipedia; this article covers his role in memecoin culture only.

Origin of retardio

In late January 2024 the trader trading_axe, who had signed his posts with a "Remilio" tag (referencing the Redacted Remilio Babies NFT collection) for years, dropped that tagline under a post by Tate's @Cobratate account. Tate replied mocking him and closed with "Retardio or whatever u call urself," mangling "Remilio" into the word that named an entire coin and became general trench slang. See retardio and trading_axe.

TOP G precedent

Before DADDY, Tate promoted an earlier Solana coin branded TOP G and burned 567 million of its tokens, a stunt that spiked the price about 200 percent before it collapsed. Critics cited the pattern when DADDY launched months later.

DADDY

DADDY launched on pump.fun on June 9, 2024 as a direct answer to Iggy Azalea's MOTHER coin. A single transaction the same day moved 40 percent of DADDY's supply into Tate's wallet before he began promoting it, a stash CoinDesk valued at about 64 to 65 million dollars at the mid June peak. Bubblemaps published an insider trading analysis alleging 11 wallets funded through Binance with nearly identical amounts bought 20 percent of DADDY on June 9, 2024 before the project's first announcement, with total alleged insider holdings near 30 percent of supply worth over 45 million dollars across roughly 21 wallets, an accusation Bubblemaps said it could not fully confirm; Tate then blocked Bubblemaps' X profile.

On June 13, 2024 Tate burned 400 million DADDY tokens, worth about 110 million dollars, the same day he announced a CoinMarketCap listing, posting "I will never sell what was sent to my wallet, I will only burn and buy. Forever. Diamond hands." Market cap rose to about 300 million dollars around the burn. DADDY hit a market capitalization around 240 million dollars within three days of launch, with a peak price about 0.336 dollars on June 12, 2024, and FXStreet covered its 450 percent surge past MOTHER in mid June 2024.

On November 30, 2024 Tate ran a 48 hour DADDY birthday giveaway from his own wallet, promising doubled prize payouts past 10 thousand retweets; the post drew about 19,000 likes and over 1.2 million views. The coin stayed unusually news reactive to Tate's legal saga: DADDY rallied 20 to 78 percent on developments including Romanian charges being dropped in November 2024, his departure from Romania in February 2025, and a new Florida criminal investigation shortly after.

The MOONPIG burn

On June 3, 2025 Tate burned 20 million moonpig tokens (about 750,000 dollars, 2 percent of supply) that whale trader James Wynn had gifted him, in a show of solidarity after Wynn's reported 99 million dollar leveraged trading losses. MOONPIG's price rose about 6 percent on the burn.

The 2026 supply ultimatum

Tate kept working DADDY into 2026. On July 4, 2026 he tweeted that any new coin wanting his support must route 70 percent of its supply plus its pump.fun creator fees to his wallet, pledging "All creator fees will purchase $Daddy"; the post drew about 2.1 million views. Trader Sue (@sue_xbt) mocked it with "you've been purchasing $DADDY for over 2 years and the chart looks like this."

Current status

As of August 2026 DADDY traded around a 7 million dollar market capitalization, roughly 97 percent below its June 2024 peak. A 2026 CryptoNews buyer's guide noted the token's website and official X account had been suspended, and CoinGecko carries a notice that the token is not officially affiliated with Andrew Tate.
