YZY, branded YZY Money, is a Solana token launched on August 20, 2025 by the artist Kanye West (Ye). Arriving eighteen months after the celebrity coin wave and seven months after official trump, it was the largest celebrity token debut since the Trump launch, and its collapse within days became one of the defining wealth transfer events of the late cycle.

Origin

Ye had a long ambivalent history with crypto, having publicly refused coin offers in 2024 and having had his account linked to earlier rumored launches that never materialized. The real launch came with YZY, presented as the currency of a planned Yeezy Money payments ecosystem, including a branded card, rather than a pure meme. The token deployed on Solana with a structure that concentrated the overwhelming majority of supply with the project: the analyst Conor Grogan estimated that insiders controlled over 94 percent of supply at one point. Trading opened in a frenzy, with the price up thousands of percent within hours of the contract going live.

Market history

The Block and Bitcoin.com reported YZY surging to roughly a 3 billion dollar market capitalization on launch day, August 21, 2025, with the price briefly hitting about 3.16 dollars, up around 6,800 percent from its opening prints. The reversal began within hours. The token fell about 74 percent from the peak on day one and was down roughly 80 percent within a week, stabilizing far below launch levels. After the initial collapse, YZY's market capitalization settled closer to about 137 million dollars, down from the roughly 3 billion dollar peak. Bubblemaps found that of about 70,200 wallets that bought the token, more than 51,800 lost money, including three traders who each lost over 1 million dollars, while one early insider wallet was reported to have cleared 1.5 million dollars in quick trades. Sniper wallets and pre positioned insiders were widely alleged in coverage to have captured the launch, allegations the project did not answer in detail. Bubblemaps specifically alleged that Hayden Davis, the figure also known as Kelsier and previously tied to the LIBRA token collapse, coordinated a sniping operation on YZY that generated about 12 million dollars in profit across 14 connected wallets; the operation was reportedly funded in part by centralized exchange deposits made the day before launch and by access to 57 million dollars in previously frozen funds Davis received the day before YZY went live. The token spent the following year in decline, and the promised payments ecosystem had not restored its valuation as of 2026.

YZY is remembered in the trenches as the celebrity coin era's late, brutal encore: proof that even after libra, hawk, and the 2024 wave had made the playbook notorious, a large enough name could still summon billions in hours, and that the outcome for buyers had not changed. The Bubblemaps loss figures became standard ammunition in arguments that celebrity launches are structurally extractive regardless of stated utility.
