AI Rig Complex is a Solana token tied to rig, an open source Rust framework for building AI agents, which peaked above 600 million dollars in January 2025 as the developer tooling wing of the AI agent meta.

AI Rig Complex (ARC) is a token on the Solana blockchain connected to rig, an open source framework written in Rust for building lightweight AI agents that interact with blockchains. Launched through pump.fun in December 2024, ARC became the flagship "framework token" of the AI agent meta alongside ai16z and Swarms.

Origin

Where most agent coins of late 2024 were fronted by a character posting on X, ARC positioned itself as infrastructure. The rig framework offered modular building blocks for developers to assemble agents that could read and write to Solana, and the token traded as a proxy for adoption of that tooling. The Rust branding mattered in the moment: Solana's core is written in Rust, and ARC marketed itself to serious developers rather than memecoin traders, a framing that in practice attracted plenty of both.

Market history

ARC launched in mid December 2024 and appreciated rapidly through the January 2025 framework rotation, when traders moved from agent characters into the platforms and toolkits beneath them. KOL roundups from February 2025 place ARC trading near 0.29 dollars for a market capitalization of about 293 million dollars, with listings across Gate.io, Bitget, and MEXC, a mid cycle data point between the December 2024 launch and the January 2025 peak. The token reached an all time high of about 0.63 dollars on January 22, 2025, an implied market capitalization of roughly 630 million dollars on a supply of about one billion. As with GRIFFAIN, which topped the same day, the peak coincided with the terminal phase of the agent mania.

Decline and status

The framework narrative deflated fastest of all the AI subsectors once it became clear that open source stars on GitHub did not translate into token cash flows. The project account, arcdotfun, stayed active well past this deflated framing: in May 2025 it shipped an infrastructure release called Ryzome while ARC traded about 90 percent below its all time high, a contemporaneous figure that lines up with the roughly 87 percent drawdown trackers reported later. ARC fell through the February 2025 sector collapse, though it retained a comparatively strong holder base: through 2026 trackers showed ARC down roughly 87 percent from its high, a smaller drawdown than most agent character tokens, which had lost 98 to 99 percent. The rig framework itself remained open source and continued to be referenced in Solana AI development discussions. A May 2026 research thread from account OGAudit described ARC as having grown past a single agent framework into running its own developer framework, a token launchpad, and a terminal testnet, while asking pointedly why a project only months old by its own framing was already burning its own token supply.

Legacy

ARC is remembered as the purest expression of the "picks and shovels" thesis inside the agent bubble, the idea that frameworks would outlive characters. The thesis was half right: the software persisted, while the valuation did not, a pattern retrospectives of the trenches treat as the defining lesson of the framework trade.
