unc is an April 2026 Solana meme coin named after the Gen Z slang for an older guy, best known for a whale who bought over a third of the supply near launch and airdropped it to thousands of traders.

unc (UNC) is a meme coin on the Solana blockchain launched through pump.fun in April 2026. The name comes from Gen Z internet slang, where "unc" (short for uncle) is the affectionate label for any man deemed old, out of touch, or radiating elder energy. The coin had no product or roadmap; its claim to history is one of the strangest supply distributions ever executed in the trenches.

The fibonacki airdrop

Shortly after launch, when the token's market capitalization was only about 6,000 dollars, a trader known as fibonacki bought roughly 37.45 percent of the total supply in a single clip. Instead of holding the position, the trader then airdropped about 33.85 percent of the supply to more than 2,000 on chain wallets belonging to active meme coin traders across the ecosystem. The largest tranche went to 22 recipients who each received a full 1 percent of supply, allocations worth around 200,000 dollars apiece once the token repriced. Fibonacki kept only about 3.6 percent, a stake reported at roughly 680,000 dollars at the time.

The stunt functioned as guerrilla marketing: thousands of known wallets suddenly held a coin they had never bought, and wallet tracker feeds and crypto twitter lit up as traders discovered the free positions. Coverage from exchange news desks including KuCoin and Phemex valued the distributed tokens at about 6.4 million dollars at the peak.

unc ran from its four figure beginnings to a market capitalization of about 12 million dollars by April 15, 2026, then past 20 million dollars on April 16 after a further 200 percent daily move, with 24 hour volumes above 13 million dollars. CoinGecko places the all time high price on April 16, 2026, implying a peak market capitalization of about 25 million dollars. The token then bled with the broader April 2026 microcap wave; as of mid August 2026 trackers list the market capitalization around 3.5 to 4 million dollars, roughly 85 percent below the peak.

Significance

The unc episode is cited as the cleanest demonstration of airdrop marketing applied to a pure meme: seeding the most watched wallets in the casino proved cheaper and faster than any KOL campaign, since every recipient had an incentive to talk their free bag up. It also revived debate about whether such distributions are generosity, exit liquidity engineering, or both, given that the distributor retained a stake that appreciated thousands of times over.
