TST, short for Test, is a meme coin on BNB Chain that was never meant to be a coin at all. It was deployed on the four.meme launchpad as a demonstration token for a BNB Chain tutorial video, and after traders spotted it, it became one of the purest attention trades in meme coin history, a token whose only story is that it has no story.

Origin

In early 2025 the BNB Chain team recorded a step by step tutorial showing how to launch a token on four.meme, the chain's answer to pump.fun, using a placeholder token named TST as the example. The video, circulated in early February 2025, inadvertently revealed the token's name and contract details. Traders in Chinese crypto communities identified it, reasoning that a token touched by an official Binance adjacent tutorial was a lottery ticket, and its market value soared to about 49 million dollars within hours of discovery on February 6, 2025.

Market history

Changpeng Zhao publicly clarified that TST was merely a test token, not an official project of Binance or the BNB Chain team, and was never meant for real trading. Zhao said on X that he had no idea how TST ended up listed on Binance, stated flatly that neither he nor Binance backed it, and called the project's unauthorized use of Binance style branding an "infringement," urging the team behind it to change it. The disclaimers had the opposite effect: per The Block, TST ran to about 52 million dollars within minutes of Zhao's own disclaimer post about the token. Zhao used the episode to publicly criticize Binance's own listing process as "a bit broken," explaining that the exchange announces a listing and then waits about four hours before it goes live, a gap in which "the token prices go high on DEXes, and then people sell on CEX."

On February 9, 2025 Binance listed TST for spot trading against USDT and USDC alongside a separate meme token, Cheems (1000CHEEMS). TST had already run to about a 41 million dollar market capitalization on DEX trading around February 6 to 9, before the listing driven spike toward roughly 490 million dollars with daily volume above 1 billion dollars and its eventual stabilization near 10 million dollars. One trader known for an earlier windfall on the TRUMP token reportedly cleared 3 million dollars on TST. As with most narrative coins, the peak was brief: TST spent 2025 and 2026 fading to a small fraction of its high as attention moved to Broccoli and later metas.

Cultural impact

TST is the reductio ad absurdum of meme coin markets: an asset with explicitly zero intent behind it, publicly disavowed by the most influential figure in its own ecosystem, that still commanded a nine figure valuation because attention alone priced it. It kicked off the BNB Chain meme season of early 2025 and is cited across the trenches whenever traders argue that narrative, not fundamentals or even intention, is what markets actually trade.
