Housecoin is a satirical Solana meme coin from April 2025 that mocked the housing crisis with the pitch that anyone could afford a house on the blockchain.

Housecoin (HOUSE) is a satirical meme coin on the Solana blockchain, launched via pump.fun and listed on April 1, 2025. Marketed as "the first house on Solana," it lampooned unaffordable real estate by inviting priced out buyers to own a house shaped token instead, branding itself a hedge against the housing market.

Origin

Housecoin emerged from the spring 2025 wave of concept memes that replaced animals and celebrities with economic jokes, alongside Useless Coin and moonpig. Its pixel house imagery and slogans about mortgage rates gave financial media an easy hook, and crypto influencers adopted "buying a house" posts as a running gag. The community grew to over 18,000 holders and tens of thousands of Telegram members during its run.

Market history

From an April 1, 2025, listing price of about 0.0043 dollars, HOUSE rose more than 2,200 percent, reaching an all time high market capitalization of about 120 million dollars in May 2025 following influencer endorsements. The key endorsement traces to Barstool founder turned meme trader Ansem, who posted simply "housecoin." on X around late April 2025 and, in a separate post around mid May 2025, "no im buying housecoin." A holder recalled the joke over a year later: "Ansem @blknoiz06 joked 11 months ago that he wouldn't buy a house because he could buy Housecoin instead." During the same season a parody rival, CHILLHOUSE, briefly flipped it, an event covered by Decrypt as a parody overtaking its own target. HOUSE then deflated with the rest of the 2025 microcap meme class; by mid 2026 aggregators placed its market capitalization near 1.2 million dollars.

Cultural impact

Housecoin's significance is as a social satire coin: its traders were, in large part, self identified members of the generation locked out of property markets, and the joke that a meme coin was a more attainable house than a real one carried genuine bite. It is cited as a marker of the 2025 shift from character memes to grievance memes in the trenches, and the CHILLHOUSE flip became a minor classic of meme on meme warfare.

The bagholder identity has proven durable well past the peak: holders have appended house and coin emoji to their bios, describing themselves in terms like "your friendly neighbourhood real escape agent @HousecoinOnSol," and the coin was still being talked up as late as March 2026 alongside SOL, HYPE and PUMP as a "strong utility, highly memetic" pick.
