apeonfone ($fone) is a Solana memecoin launched on pump.fun on August 27, 2026 around the thesis that trading itself has moved onto the phone, which became the most traded memecoin on Solana by 24 hour volume within a day of launch, per GeckoTerminal's trending pools.

apeonfone ($fone) is a Solana memecoin built around a single idea, printed in its own name: that trading itself has moved onto the phone. It launched on pump.fun at 00:02:12 UTC on August 27, 2026, nineteen seconds after its own founding tweet went up, and within a day became the most traded memecoin on Solana by 24 hour volume, per GeckoTerminal's trending pools at 05:27:32 UTC on August 28, 2026, when its market cap stood at $27.26 million, up 383 percent on the day, having already touched an all time high of $31.33 million at 01:18:59 UTC that same morning. That claim is printed here exactly at the level the record supports: not as "the biggest coin on Solana," a ranking no single authoritative source provides, but as the volume reading GeckoTerminal's own trending list showed at that stamped moment.

The meme

"ape on fone." is the entire thesis, repeated until it becomes the point. It is the coin's pump.fun description, its account bio, and the refrain of its own founding tweet. @apeonfone posted, at 00:01:53 UTC on August 27, 2026, nineteen seconds before the token existed onchain:

ape on fone.

last cycle gave us dog wif hat. this one is being traded straight from the fone.

callouts. feeds. social trading.

see it. ape it.

the whole cycle, in three words.

ape on fone.

https://apeonfone.com

A fresh pull roughly a day after posting put the tweet at 996 likes, 221 retweets, 110 replies and over 325,000 views.

The dogwifhat comparison is not an outside observation about the coin; it is the project's own framing, stated directly and repeated at length on apeonfone.com: "last cycle was dog wif hat. this cycle could be even simpler: apeonfone... dogwifhat described the last one. apeonfone describes this one." The site's own meta description reads the same way: "Last cycle was a dog with a hat. This one is an ape on a phone." No trace of "ape on fone" as a phrase predating this launch was found in any source checked; on the record available, the coinage begins with the token itself, deliberately positioned against a chosen predecessor rather than descending from an older meme.

The token art is a photograph, not illustrated work: an 800 by 800 pixel JPEG of a young macaque monkey seated and holding a black smartphone in both hands against a plain cream background, byte identical between pump.fun's own IPFS hosted image and the og:image apeonfone.com serves on its own site, one asset mirrored in two places. No photographer or artist credit appears on either. Its origin was not locatable: it is not the well known 2011 "monkey selfie" photograph, a different and visually distinct picture, and no stock photo listing or web search turned up a confident source, and no reverse image search tool was available to attempt one. It is printed here as exactly what the research supports: an unattributed photograph, original source unlocated.

The operation

Nobody runs apeonfone under a name. The account, the domain and the wallets below are the entire public record; no named or credibly pseudonymous individual has claimed authorship anywhere this research reached, and none is asserted here.

What is documented is a timeline assembled well before the token existed. The @apeonfone X account and the domain apeonfone.com were both registered the same day, August 21, 2026, six days before launch: the account's own join date reads Friday August 21 at 12:58:56 UTC, and RDAP records show apeonfone.com registered through GoDaddy at 17:30:53 UTC that day, about four and a half hours later, pointed at Vercel's nameservers from the start. The persona's visual branding came together far later and faster: the account's banner carries an upload timestamp of 23:55:20 UTC on August 26, about six and a half minutes before the launch tweet went up. The account and the domain existed for nearly a week before launch; the finished look went up in the minutes right before it.

The X community linked in the token's own pump.fun metadata predates the coin by much more than a week. Its numeric ID decodes, using the same snowflake timestamp encoding documented for tweet and account IDs and calibrated here against other public community IDs with known creation windows, to February 6, 2026, about six and a half months before the coin's August 27 launch; the community itself could not be read directly to confirm what it was called or used for before, so that date rests on the decode method rather than a direct read of the community's own record. Whatever it was, it was not built for apeonfone: this is a repurposed community, linked to the coin rather than created for it.

The account also posted, then quietly removed, a claim grafted onto someone else's discourse. At 05:10:01 UTC on August 27, @apeonfone replied to an unrelated viral X Article by @Schoen_xyz about social trading platforms with "the next wave of trading is happening on fone." The reply had gained 19 favorites and was still live when a research corpus captured it later that same day; a direct re fetch roughly a day after that returned nothing where the post used to be. The deletion happened somewhere between those two points, and the post survives only in the archived capture.

The launch and the wallets

The token was created onchain at 00:02:12 UTC on August 27, 2026, by wallet D2ChvFYo3bsEnV7UAdUSeMrmF6z1CCEYDVWXewawYDrH, nineteen seconds after the launch tweet went up. Its bonding curve finished and migrated to a PumpSwap pool 92 seconds later, an extremely fast graduation rate even by pump.fun's own standards, and one that left the coin's first minute and a half looking like chaos.

That first stretch really was chaos, more precisely than it first looked. Public RPC history for the bonding curve's own token account shows over a thousand buy attempts landing in the ninety odd seconds after creation, the overwhelming majority failing outright, in two distinct dense clusters rather than one continuous mess: from 28 to 38 seconds after creation, with roughly 75 to 84 percent of attempts failing at tens of transactions a second, and a second, far denser cluster from 82 to 98 seconds after creation, climbing to 98 to 100 percent failure by the end of that window, meaning bots were still firing buy transactions against the curve up to six seconds after it had already migrated to PumpSwap. Threaded through both clusters are a handful of wallets that were not failing at all: several already held, and were actively cycling, multi million token positions within the first second the public record can show at all, one of them completing three back to back sells in that same second for repeated, similarly sized SOL gains. The pattern reads, in the shorthand of the trenches, like a possible bundle, trench slang for a coordinated multi wallet buy at launch; it is printed here as an observable pattern and nothing more, since coordination between these wallets was never established.

The creator wallet's own dev buy took a different path than a market dump. It bought roughly 1 percent of total supply, about 10.01 million fone tokens, in the same transaction that created the token. Sixty seven seconds later, the entire position, down to a single dust unit, moved through a Streamflow vesting instruction into a newly created escrow account, with the stream's designated recipient set to a separate wallet, 5SEpbdjFK5FxwTvfsGMXVQTD2v4M2c5tyRTxhdsPkgDw, not the creator itself. That recipient has been auto claiming from the stream continuously ever since, in transactions spaced seconds to tens of seconds apart, still active more than a day after launch, and it has never accumulated a balance: whatever it claims moves out again immediately. None of this reached an open market; every lamport that left the creator wallet during the lock is accounted for in rent and fees, not a swap. Separately, and on an ongoing basis, the creator wallet has also been independently claiming its own creator share of PumpSwap trading fees in SOL, a second, smaller and entirely ordinary revenue stream distinct from the vesting lock. Who controls the recipient wallet, and why the dev allocation was routed there rather than held or sold outright, is not established either way; the mechanism itself, timing and recipient included, is not in question.

The creator wallet's own funding traces to an exchange. About twenty four hours before launch, it received 2.0 SOL in a transaction that simultaneously paid two other wallets, funded from 5tzFkiKscXHK5ZXCGbXZxdw7gTjjD1mBwuoFbhUvuAi9, a wallet Solscan identifies as "Binance 2," a Binance exchange hot wallet. That is consistent with a routine exchange withdrawal rather than a dedicated or unusual funding arrangement; it also happens to be the kind of route that ends an operator's traceable history at the exchange's own wall rather than at a named person. pump.fun's own creator listing for this wallet shows exactly one coin ever deployed from it: apeonfone itself.

The breakout

The climb from creation to peak took just over twenty five hours. The token opened near zero and climbed through August 27 behind two distinct volume spikes, one in the mid afternoon near $5.1 million an hour and a larger one that evening peaking near $9.6 million an hour, before setting its all time high market cap, $31,332,999.47, at 01:18:59 UTC on August 28, inside the single highest hourly trading candle recorded for the pool. By a fresh pull at 05:27:32 UTC on August 28, the main PumpSwap pair alone was doing $48.99 million in 24 hour volume with the token up 383 percent on the day; across all 29 separate pairs then trading the mint on PumpSwap, Meteora and Raydium, combined 24 hour volume ran to roughly $71 to 72 million. On GeckoTerminal's Solana trending pools list at that same stamped moment, fone/SOL still ranked first by 24 hour volume, ahead of the next entry by about 2.9 times, a margin that had already narrowed sharply from earlier in the day as competing pools entered the list; any margin printed about this coin is a snapshot of a moving number, not a fixed ranking. Independent, dated coverage exists: Bitrue's own article on the coin, published August 27, reported roughly 12,400 unique traders and 197,000 transactions, gains described as "97x+," and confirmed it could not identify any team or creator behind the coin either.

The public conversation about the coin, measured against a local discourse corpus, was thin and short lived: ten real mentions total, all inside the first five hours and eight minutes after the launch tweet, then no further hits in that same corpus despite the coin being well over a day old by the time it was checked. Six of those ten were reply guy drop ins, unrelated tweets with a coin pitch appended rather than genuine reactions; the clearest example is @VIGILANTE_ROCK, who posted the identical message pairing $apeonfone with an entirely unrelated mint and ticker to two different accounts two minutes and thirty three seconds apart, a copy paste cross promotion common to the trenches' reply guy circuit rather than a statement about the coin itself. The highest follower account found actually engaging with the "apeonfone" concept, rather than farming replies onto it, was @kavo_trades, 12,783 followers, who wrote "@CookerFlips finna apeonfone every good narra i see, lets do this🤞," using the coin's own coinage as a verb. No bear case, rug accusation or skeptical post turned up anywhere in that sample; that is reported as a limit of a small, thin corpus sample, not as proof that no criticism exists anywhere.

Status

Several threads remain open as of this writing. Holder concentration could not be independently verified: the public Solana RPC's largest accounts call was rate limited on every attempt, including with backoff, and no free alternative, pump.fun, GeckoTerminal or Solscan among them, returned usable holder data. The meme image's provenance stays unattributed and unlocated; no confident source, stock listing or reverse match was found. The funder trail ends at a Binance hot wallet, a routine exchange withdrawal that does not, by itself, identify anyone. The identity of the Streamflow vesting recipient wallet, and its relationship to the creator wallet, is unresolved either way: confirmed as a distinct address with confirmed token flow into it, not confirmed as the same operator or a genuinely separate one. And one lead named in the discourse itself was never confirmed: a reply implying @CookerFlips, a 139,021 follower account, already had a profitable $fone trade to post about separately; no such post from CookerFlips was located by any method tried.
