Vine Coin is a Solana memecoin launched in January 2025 by Vine cofounder Rus Yusupov amid speculation that Elon Musk would revive the video app, peaking around 500 million dollars within days.
Vine Coin (VINE) is a memecoin on the Solana blockchain launched in January 2025 by Rus Yusupov, cofounder of Vine, the short form video app shut down by Twitter in 2017. It was among the most prominent launches of the celebrity wave that followed Official Trump, and one of the first coins from a recognizable technology founder rather than an entertainer.
Origin
The token capitalized on persistent speculation that Elon Musk would revive Vine, a possibility Musk had polled his followers about repeatedly. On January 22, 2025, days after the TRUMP launch normalized celebrity coins, Yusupov announced VINE on X and verified himself with a selfie holding a handwritten paper note. He framed the coin as a celebration of Vine's legacy, said the developer allocation would be locked until April 20, 2025, and stated an intention to direct profits toward Musk's X platform. No affiliation with Musk or with the Vine brand's owner existed, a point analysts repeatedly stressed.
Market history
VINE ran to a market capitalization around 90 million dollars within hours, pulled back, then surged as much as 5,800 percent to roughly 500 million dollars with over a billion dollars in trading volume by January 24 to 26, 2025. Price trackers put the all time high at about 0.40 dollars on January 26, 2025. The collapse of the celebrity meta in February 2025, punctuated by LIBRA, took VINE down more than 90 percent from its peak.
The Musk revival pump
The token's second act came on July 24, 2025, when Musk posted that he was bringing back Vine "in AI form." VINE rose over 100 percent within hours, briefly trading near 0.17 dollars, despite no announced connection between the token and any relaunch. The rally faded as months passed without a product, and commentary treated the move as a case study in headline driven memecoin reflexivity.
Status
Through 2026 VINE continued to trade at a small fraction of its January 2025 high, reacting sporadically to Vine related news from Musk. In the trenches it is grouped with Jelly My Jelly among the founder nostalgia coins of early 2025, launches that monetized a dead product's memory rather than a living one's utility.
