Gen Z Quant (QUANT) is a Solana meme coin launched on pump.fun on November 19, 2024 by a 13 year old boy who dumped his supply on his own livestream, in one of the most infamous moments of the pump.fun livestreaming era. The coin is inseparable from the Quant kid incident, the event that made "kid rugs, chat revenge pumps" a permanent piece of trench lore.

The launch and the rug

The creator launched Gen Z Quant while streaming on pump.fun, bought roughly 51 million tokens (about 5 percent of supply) for around 350 dollars, and sold the entire position minutes later for 128 SOL, roughly 30,000 dollars at the time, as buyers piled in. Reporting put the whole arc inside the first seven to eight minutes of the coin's existence. The clip of him celebrating the dump and flipping off the camera went viral on crypto Twitter that night, and coverage noted he dumped a further token the same evening. CCN framed the stunt against pump.fun's economics of the time, when only about 1.4 percent of launches ever completed the bonding curve: most coins die, and this one was killed by its own creator on camera.

The revenge pump

What followed inverted the script. Instead of letting the chart die, traders organized a revenge pump, buying the abandoned coin specifically because its creator had dumped it. QUANT ran to a market capitalization of about 85 million dollars in the days that followed, meaning the 51 million tokens the creator sold for about 30,000 dollars would have been worth roughly 4 million dollars at the top. The episode became the canonical proof that in the trenches attention itself, even hostile attention, can be worth more than the token a developer abandons, and it fed the community takeover playbook that keeps such coins alive after their creators leave.

Aftermath

The viral moment turned ugly. Traders doxxed the boy and his family, and pump.fun users launched derivative coins named for his father, mother and sister. One QUANT holder claimed to have taken the family's dog, demanding an apology and launching a coin named after the pet. The coin itself survived its creator, its rug and its fame as a community held token. As of mid August 2026, market trackers show Gen Z Quant still trading on Solana with a market capitalization in the low hundreds of thousands of dollars, a small monument to the strangest revenge trade of the 2024 cycle.
