Its origin story made it the standard example of the trenches converting a rug into a redemption arc.

Flog the Frog (FLOG) was one of the most hyped meme coin launches of mid 2024, propelled by charming artwork and heavy influencer support. Shortly after launch, wallets linked to its core team dumped their holdings, crashing the market capitalization by a reported 91 percent in about a minute. Reporting by Decrypt described how the artist behind the project's visuals, known as Titto, had not been compensated for his work. crypto twitter rallied behind the artist, and in late July 2024 community members relaunched the character as Fwog on pump.fun, with Bybit dating the debut specifically to August 3, 2024, this time with the artist paid and on board. The relaunch ignited fast, hitting a 25 million dollar market capitalization within six hours of trading. Alongside moo deng, peanut the squirrel, and goatseus maximus, FWOG rode the post election wave to its peak: price aggregators including CoinGecko and CoinLore record an all time high around 0.73 to 0.75 dollars on November 14, 2024, implying a market capitalization of roughly 700 million dollars against its circulating supply of just under 1 billion tokens. Trader 0xpeely's viral October 2024 post, "remember when i told u i sold my fwog for 2x at 300k mc," became an early cautionary meme about selling far too soon on a coin that would go on to run dramatically higher, reposted widely as a symbol of paper handed regret in the trenches.
