## Function Vector, at vector.fun, was a mobile first social trading app for Solana meme coins built by Tensor Labs, the team behind the Tensor NFT marketplace founded by Ilja Moisejevs and Richard Wu. Its core idea was making trading itself the social feed: users broadcast their buys and sells publicly, profit and loss was verified on chain rather than self reported, and followers could react to or fade each caller in real time. The app combined a self custodial wallet, private groups, and a rewards system for successful trades, a formalization of the [[copy trading]] and [[kol]] dynamics that otherwise live scattered across [[crypto twitter]] and Telegram. ## History Tensor teased Vector in late 2024 as its expansion from NFTs into SocialFi, positioning it against [[pump.fun]] era trading habits. The app ran a private beta with a waitlist that was briefly opened and then closed under demand. Messari and others covered it as the leading attempt to make verified PnL, rather than screenshots, the unit of reputation in [[the trenches]]. ## Coinbase acquisition and shutdown In late 2025 Coinbase agreed to acquire Vector.fun for an undisclosed sum, described by The Block as part of its everything exchange vision and its push into the Solana ecosystem, with the deal expected to close by year end. The standalone Vector apps were wound down, with users given until November 26 to withdraw funds. Separately, the Tensor NFT marketplace, the TNSR token and the Tensorians collection passed to the Tensor Foundation, and TNSR briefly surged from about 0.04 to 0.28 dollars around the news before retracing. ## Status in 2026 Vector no longer exists as an independent product in 2026. Its team and technology were absorbed into Coinbase's onchain trading efforts, and the app is cited in the trenches as proof that verified social trading had enough value to be acquired, and as a cautionary tale about building a community on an app that can be bought and closed. ## References - https://decrypt.co/291559/solanas-tensor-vector-social-trading-app - https://messari.io/report/vector-fun-tensor-s-expansion-into-socialfi - https://www.theblock.co/post/379964/coinbase-vector-fun-tensor-solana-everything-exchange-vision - https://www.coingecko.com/learn/geckopulse-say-goodbye-to-vector
