PoorGoat is a pseudonymous Solana memecoin trader who led the accidental community takeover of Catecoin in mid 2026 and became a figurehead of the cults over cabals era.

PoorGoat is a pseudonymous memecoin trader on Solana who posts on X as @PoorGoat_. He is best known for taking over Catecoin ($CATE) in the summer of 2026 and steering it to roughly a 70 million dollar valuation, making him one of the defining figures of the season's cult coin wave in the trenches.

Account and persona

The name's origin is documented in an August 6, 2026 profile thread by @FabianoSolana (81,749 followers): PoorGoat had been trading memecoins for three years, built an audience of more than 10,000 followers on the mobile trading app Vector through a strategy the thread calls "bagworking," lost that following when Vector shut down and his X account was subsequently suspended, and took the name PoorGoat after trading GOAT. Per the same thread, the current @PoorGoat_ account follows that earlier suspended account.

The @PoorGoat_ account was created on September 1, 2025 and had about 77,700 followers in August 2026, with roughly 12,700 posts in under a year of existence, about 35 a day averaged, the opposite operating mode from the scarcity posters he is often compared to. The bio reads "Follow to stay ahead. The horns stay on. Much Meow!", the display name pairs a bull and a cat emoji, loyalty badges for $ANSEM and $CATE at once, the listed location is "Solangeles", and the profile links to a Telegram called poorgoatspen. Twitterscore lists Ansem, Alon, Gmoney, and Smolting among his followers and describes him as the builder of RUNNR, a live social trading platform with public positions and a leaderboard whose referral codes he promotes; the RUNNR description was the tracker's characterization alone until a bio snapshot around July 26, 2026 read "Building RUNNR. Follow to stay ahead. @Runnrtrade (code: poorgoat). The horns stay on," confirming the build in his own words. His signature catchphrase as of August 2026 is "Balls on the table. Trillion. Dollar. Cate.", posted verbatim at least twice within four days, alongside a recurring yellow heart and cat emoji pair and "when, not if" framing. At a stage appearance in August 2026 he said, per attendee coverage with video, "I have a real career and I love my job, it's super fun", offering the day job as the reason he could hold positions without selling.

The $RIO project

Before Catecoin, PoorGoat led $RIO, a coin for Rio (Satrio Wiratama), the giant panda born at Taman Safari Indonesia and billed as the first panda born outside China in three years. He introduced the Solana memecoin on May 29, 2026 with "Meet $RIO" linking the panda's debut article, said the next day it had "soft launched and is already all over the zoos socials", and pitched it with "Imagine buying $punch at 130k before he went viral". On June 3 he posted a community update saying the team had spent three weeks in active discussions with Taman Safari Indonesia working toward a structure that would let the zoo directly benefit from the coin's success.

He ran $RIO as a team lead with fee flows, not as a bystander: on June 1, 2026 he announced locking 10 million $RIO via Streamflow "on-chain. You can check the amount, time-period and recipients", and on June 3 posted that "For transparency, 100% of fees have been rerouted to a new wallet to make all fee activity easy to track", detailing about 13.9 million $RIO locked until July 1, 2026 with vesting contract links. The era included a documented feud with a rival RIO launch: he posted "We didn't work 3 weeks to let a 80% bundled slop vamp us. The real $rio will be obvious soon", told the trader tontheneko "How much supply you get to lead your followers to slaughter? Bid the og $rio", drew the reply "My wallets are doxxed, and I don't multiwallet. There is 0 reason for not choosing an officially endorsed coin over a random launch. Please stop coping", and dismissed one RIO critic with a "Retard of the week" post. The fee and lock transparency record is important context both for the later slow rug allegation and for the contrast with $CATE, where he holds no supply and collects no fees.

Rise during the ANSEM run

PoorGoat built his following trading the run of $ANSEM, the coin tied to the Black Bull, in public. Rather than quietly exiting into his followers, he rotated the attention into community coins. He later recounted receiving about 30,000 dollars worth of $ANSEM as an airdrop for running the original Ansem coin, and said he held the position from about 1.7 million dollars in value down to about 600,000 without selling. Attendee coverage of an August 2026 stage appearance quotes his own summary of the position, "I saw the vision early of what it was gonna be and obviously did not sell any", and reports Ansem speaking about sending 30,000 dollars to PoorGoat "without even knowing him".

The Catecoin takeover

The Solana $CATE debuted on July 26, 2026, inspired by an Instagram post from Kabosu Mama, Atsuko Sato, the owner of the original Dogecoin dog, who publicly denied any involvement with the token, per Bubblemaps. By his own account, PoorGoat bought $CATE at about a 150,000 dollar market capitalization because he found it funny, without reading the lore. In a widely shared clip he described three separate PVP situations breaking out among rival factions before he took the coin over himself, framing the CTO as accidental. Under his stewardship the token was verified in Phantom, topped Solana trending lists, and reached about a 70 million dollar fully diluted valuation with roughly 75,000 holder wallets, according to onchain analysis published by Bubblemaps. He also reported crossing 10,000 $CATE holders on the fomo trading app, telling followers that short term price action was irrelevant next to the growth of an organic movement. The token's official site, cate.meme, brands CATE "The Ninth Life", positions it as the cat sister to Dogecoin told across nine chapter lives, runs a CATE Academy with lessons and raffles, uses the X handle @CateonSol_, and lists pump.fun, fomo, and Moonshot as venues. Per the community safety page, mint and freeze authority are revoked, liquidity was burned at launch, there are no transaction taxes, 35.8 million of the 1 billion supply has been burned, and the top 10 wallets hold 13 percent of supply.

Notably, PoorGoat holds no supply control and collects no fees on $CATE. In August 2026 he said he was exploring ways to integrate the coin with $ANSEM despite that constraint, and he airdropped 30,000 dollars worth of $CATE to Ansem as a mirror of the gift he had received. Per the August 6, 2026 @FabianoSolana thread, he turned the original 30,000 dollar airdrop into 2 million dollars across the ANSEM and CATE runs combined, plus what the thread describes as "another $500K+" in personal trading profit specifically from CATE, a figure distinct from project supply since he holds none.

The August 3 crash and aftermath

The peak did not hold. Bubblemaps documented that 25 wallets controlled 19 percent of CATE supply at the roughly 70 million dollar FDV peak, with 74,863 holder wallets, and that 29 wallets sold about 660,000 dollars in the same minute, dropping the token 70 percent in one candle; the investigation published all 29 addresses. A more detailed and unconfirmed community narrative offers an earlier external trigger: per @MoEthWhale (8,401 followers, a self described CATE holder, August 4, 2026), a rival BNB chain project using the Catecoin name filed trademark complaints with CoinGecko, X, pump.fun, and Moonshot, causing takedowns before the dispute was resolved; this is one community member's narrative, not press confirmed, and it complicates rather than replaces the "sold in the same minute" framing above. A community dashboard puts the crash on August 3, 2026, about 85 percent down in five minutes and roughly 87 percent from the high within the hour, before the token more than tripled off the low. By August 19, 2026 DexScreener data showed about an 11.3 million dollar market cap and 1.3 million dollars of daily volume, roughly 84 percent below the peak, with community dashboards showing about 71,400 holders.

PoorGoat's own framing of the arc is bigger than the press number: in an August 18, 2026 post he described the run from 2.6 million to 80 million dollars after five days of consolidation and promised a larger leg from 11.5 million after two plus weeks of consolidation, claiming holder count had held above 70,000 while tourists rotated out, describing IRL flyers, TikTok pushes, and other offline efforts, and coining the line "We're replacing weak hands with true believers. People who don't stare at Memescope all day". The 80 million dollar peak figure is his claim, against the roughly 70 million dollar FDV Bubblemaps reported. In replies the same day he called roughly 12 million dollars "the bottom" for $CATE and said the coin had made a trending list every day for three weeks. The @CateonSol_ project account itself was suspended by X multiple times during and after the crash, around August 3 to 4, again around August 11, and again around August 14, 2026, which PoorGoat and the community framed as a coordinated attack; PoorGoat posted "WE ARE UNDER ATTACK" after the first suspension. His indispensability is itself a community axiom: a memecoin comparison post lists "cate needs Poorgoat" alongside other coin and leader pairings while arguing some coins need no KOL at all.

Controversies

A community post on KuCoin's news feed alleged that PoorGoat had slowly sold out of an earlier coin, $RIO, framing it as a slow rug. The post, by a user called DIGIDANOFF and dated August 8, 2026, relays an X post from @CryptGener alleging PoorGoat "slowrugged $RIO and that he is currently slowrugging $CATE", and contains no onchain evidence, amounts, or dates. The sourcing is thinner still on inspection: the KuCoin page hosting the allegation is the ticker feed of Realio Network, an unrelated real world asset project that happens to share the RIO ticker, so the accusation literally lives on the wrong project's news page. PoorGoat's public persona has otherwise centered on visible, tracked positions, and his documented $RIO fee locks and transparency posts cut against the framing, though as with any pseudonymous trader, self reported holdings and motives are unaudited.

The anti PoorGoat campaign is a small identifiable cluster, every account in it under 700 followers as of August 2026. @CryptGener, which originated the slow rug line and reposted it days later as breaking news, also disputes CATE's stats outright, claiming there was no CTO and no 70,000 holders; @SvoCrypto calls him a "serial dev" whose "fake CTOs is all he does" and extends the allegation to a token called $ELON; @StepinCryptic asks why Ansem associated with ruggers; and @jiggernextdoor tags Bubblemaps and ZachXBT over "so many red flags about $CATE", claims an associate called KD "rugged $RIO w Poorgoat" while saying "i have receipts" without posting them, and adds the jab that he sounds like he is on drugs on spaces. None of the surfaced posts include onchain evidence; the campaign is an unresolved accusation cluster, not established fact. A pro PoorGoat counter claim exists alongside the critics: @MoEthWhale posted on August 4, 2026 that PoorGoat had been "fully vindicated," crediting sleuthing work to @badattrading_; this is a partisan community claim, not independent confirmation. The accusation vocabulary also includes "the poorgoat bundle": an anonymous reply to Ansem alleged that paying "100k for diamond" on a site bought one shoutout while insiders followed the poorgoat bundle on a different coin, a single low follower account cited only as evidence the bundling insinuation circulates.

Adjacent community accounting debates continue. One 15,000 follower account argued in August 2026 that a figure known as Fox made over 20,000 dollars dumping the original Ansem coin airdrop early, that PoorGoat made the same or more but put it into $ANSEM around a 10 million dollar market cap while pushing the original token with the community for two more weeks, and that PoorGoat received his airdrop at a preferential one to three ratio directly from Ansem; every clause in the thread is prefixed "I think" and none of it is verified onchain. Bear side discourse runs in real time, from a rival coin promoter's "It looks like the $CATE rotation has begun. Poorgoat is losing his grip" to the taunt "Dump $cate to zero @PoorGoat generational roundtrip", the standard roundtrip jab against leaders who rode a coin up and back down. PoorGoat rebuts circulating criticism directly; replying to a user invoking the fomo app, he wrote "What does this even mean? Assuming it got translated wrong as we're 2 weeks since that happened and I'm still working harder than any other lead in the space", pushing back on an apparently translated claim about him stepping away, whose underlying substance was not resolvable from the reply alone.

Cultural footprint

PoorGoat became the era's case study in narrative stewardship without ownership: a trader who inherited a headless coin and ran it like a project founder. His takeover of Catecoin anchored the cults over cabals mood of August 2026 crypto Twitter, and his gift exchange with Ansem was cited as proof that trench social capital could move real money in both directions. The bull side memes him in the same register, as in one August 2026 post: "Can you feel it? $CATE bottom is forming. Catecoin is about to start the most hated rally since Dogecoin. @PoorGoat_ is waiting for the right time to execute."

A parasite economy has grown around the name. A third party token called The Poor Goat ($POORGOAT) trades on Solana at about a 10,000 dollar market cap with 654 holders, launched July 2026 and unverified; the CATE community site warns that $POORGOAT airdrop sites requesting wallet connections are drainer attacks and states that PoorGoat has not issued a personal token. The impersonation economy is its own subculture: an unaffiliated @Poorgoat_CTO account promotes the community token with NFT collectible plans, while other users police fakes in replies with lines like "It's a fake poorgoat" and "stop larping off poorgoat".
