The **PolitiFi meta** was the wave of political parody [[meme coin]]s that dominated [[solana]] trench culture through the 2024 United States election cycle. Centered on Jeo Boden (BODEN) and Doland Tremp (TREMP), deliberately misspelled parodies of the two presidential candidates, the meta turned meme coin charts into an informal betting market on the election, with token prices moving on debates, court rulings, and campaign news. TokenInsight and other industry explainers adopted "PolitiFi," short for political finance, as the category name.

## The wave

Political tokens existed earlier, notably the Ethereum token MAGA launched in 2023, but the Solana wave began in earnest in spring 2024. TREMP launched on February 27, 2024 and rose more than a thousandfold to its early March peak. BODEN launched in early March 2024 and became the category flagship, surging 830 percent in its first six hours according to Phemex's retrospective, and reaching a market capitalization near 690 million dollars at its spring peak. CoinDesk reported in March 2024 that the Biden and Trump parodies had taken "center stage" on Solana, and dozens of derivative candidates, running mates, and scandal coins followed. Commentators noted the meta's function as a proxy prediction market: BODEN and TREMP prices tracked their subjects' perceived fortunes, a dynamic several outlets compared to election betting.

## Collapse and afterlife

The meta's dependence on its subjects proved fatal. When Joe Biden withdrew from the race on July 21, 2024, BODEN collapsed, ultimately losing more than 95 percent from its peak, and most of the category bled out through the fall. The PolitiFi concept, however, culminated after the election itself: the January 2025 [[trump coin launch]] of [[official trump]], followed by [[melania]], brought a sitting president directly into the meta the parody coins had prototyped, and the February 2025 [[libra scandal]] extended the pattern to Argentina's president. Within [[the trenches]], PolitiFi is remembered as the first meta to prove outside news flow could be traded like a chart, a template later applied by the [[ai agent meta]] and celebrity launches of the [[celebrity coin wave]].
