Pippin (PIPPIN) is an AI agent token on the Solana blockchain centered on a minimalist stick figure unicorn, whose character and later AI agent framework were built by Yohei Nakajima, the venture capitalist who published BabyAGI in 2023 and helped name the autonomous agent software category. The token itself came first, deployed by an anonymous party on pump.fun off a viral image Nakajima had posted, and only afterward did Nakajima build the character into a full autonomous AI agent, giving the coin an unusual origin story within the AI agent meta. Pippin is best known for a second rally more than a year after its launch, reaching an all time high near 900 million dollars in market capitalization in February 2026 before crashing on allegations that insider wallets had manufactured the run.

Origin

Nakajima was experimenting with AI generated SVGs when he posted an image of a unicorn generated by ChatGPT's o1 mini model to X; when he then asked ChatGPT to name the creature, the model proposed "Pippin." He published his own account of that naming episode on his blog on December 6, 2024. An anonymous party then launched a PIPPIN memecoin on pump.fun off the back of the viral image, unbeknownst to Nakajima; discovering the token is what prompted him to set up his first Solana wallet and buy in. Only afterward did Nakajima build out Pippin as a full autonomous AI influencer, using a BabyAGI derived framework with persistent memory, X posting and NFT minting. Nakajima has publicly stated he did not launch and does not control the token itself, only the character and framework. The token's rise came in January 2025, as the agent wave started by Goatseus Maximus crested, and PIPPIN quickly ranked among the larger Solana agent coins of that month before falling back with the sector.

Nakajima's BabyAGI, the underlying framework Pippin's agent build extends, shipped as roughly 140 lines of Python in late March 2023 and went viral within a week, seeding the AI agent category.

Pippin's stated catchphrase and tenet is "Even wobbly intentions can bloom," part of a five pillar philosophy the community calls "Pippinian Naturalism," set in a fictional "Wobbly Woods" alongside the "Human Sphere." The project describes Pippin as CC0, meaning public domain, art and lore, letting anyone remix the unicorn commercially without permission, which the community leaned into for derivative games, sites and merch.

Market history

Unusually for the class of early 2025 agent tokens, Pippin's largest move came a year later. CoinGecko records PIPPIN's all time low at $0.005546 on December 29, 2024. After surviving the 2025 AI agent meta collapse, PIPPIN rallied through February 2026, gaining more than 200 percent in a single week and reaching an all time high of $0.8972 on February 26, 2026, an implied market capitalization of roughly 900 million dollars on a supply of about one billion tokens. Some lower quality "academy" style articles separately claim an 800 million dollar market cap peak in January 2025, but this is not corroborated by CoinGecko's tracked price history, which shows the February 26, 2026 date as the only all time high; that January 2025 figure should be treated as unverified rather than the record peak.

PIPPIN is listed on MEXC (Assessment Zone), BingX, LBank, BitMart, XT, SuperEx, CoinEx and Poloniex; it is not listed on Kraken or Coinbase.

Crash and insider allegations

The reversal was severe. By mid March 2026 PIPPIN had shed about 85 percent of its peak value. Onchain analytics firms alleged the rally had been manufactured: Bubblemaps flagged that about 80 percent of supply sat with connected insider wallets, and analysts including ZachXBT estimated that roughly 73 percent of tokens were held across about 50 coordinated wallets, leaving a thin tradable float. Researchers using Nansen described a clean accumulation phase followed by a distribution phase executed across dozens of wallets. These characterizations remain allegations by analysts rather than legal findings, and no enforcement action had been reported as of mid 2026.

Status

By August 2026 PIPPIN traded around 98 percent below its high, with a market capitalization around $17.7 million against a circulating and max supply of roughly 999.9 million tokens. The episode is cited in the trenches as evidence that the AI agent trade's second wind reproduced the same supply concentration problems as its first.

Nakajima has continued the same pattern since PIPPIN. In July and August 2026 he was actively building and promoting a new AI generated character called "Bluxel" ($BLUXEL) on pump.fun, with trenchers noting he personally claimed creator fees from the community: one post on July 27, 2026 read "@yoheinakajima just claimed his 123 Sol from the community," and another the same day read "$BLUXEL pippin's dev @yoheinakajima has claimed fees, and it about to send!" This shows the Pippin playbook, viral AI character art paired with a community fee flywheel, being actively repeated by the same builder more than a year and a half after PIPPIN's original launch. A February 2026 snapshot of Nakajima's X bio credited him as builder of "@babyagi_, @pippinlovesyou @pixelbeastsnft," confirming the project's official handle as @pippinlovesyou.
