Mumu the Bull (MUMU) is a [[Solana]] [[meme coin]] built on the crudely drawn cartoon bull from the mumu and bobo meme lineage, the long running crypto Twitter comic tradition in which a hapless bull (mumu) and bear (bobo) act out every market emotion. The character traces to a July 13, 2018 thread on 4chan's /biz/ board, where it first appeared as the green counterpart to Bobo the Bear in the Apu Apustaja lineage; the token itself launched in March 2024. Where most 2024 coins invented mascots, MUMU adopted one the community had been posting for years, and it became known for peaking against the trend of its cohort in July 2024, before migrating to a new pump.fun contract in June 2026.

## Origin

MUMU launched in March 2024, in the thick of the great Solana meme wave, with the stated mission, quoted in Bybit's overview, to dethrone the establishment and forge the ultimate decentralized currency, delivered in the voice of the perpetually overconfident cartoon bull. Part of that mission was distributional: in March 2024 the team airdropped about 20 percent of the initial token supply to established Solana communities, a deliberate seeding strategy meant to place the coin directly into existing holder bases rather than rely on organic discovery alone. The bull imagery gave the coin a ready made content library: years of mumu comics about buying tops, refusing to sell, and declaring victory prematurely mapped directly onto the experience of holding the token. The community leaned into this, positioning MUMU as the official coin of unearned bullishness.

## Market history

MUMU's distinguishing market fact is timing. While most of the spring 2024 class peaked in March through May and then bled, MUMU kept climbing after the cohort rolled over, and price trackers date its all time high to the end of July 2024, a period when Bybit noted it scaling heights it had not seen before even as peers fell. Tracker figures for the peak vary: CoinGecko's recorded high of about 0.00012 dollars against a circulating supply near 2.33 trillion implies roughly 280 million dollars, while CoinLore's high of about 0.000095 dollars, which it dates specifically to July 30, 2024, implies closer to 220 million dollars. Community memory of the run has since inflated beyond what either tracker shows: a July 25, 2026 post claimed Mumu the Bull went to 800 million dollars in 2024 and drew 38 likes, a figure well above both trackers' implied peaks and best treated as a fully diluted community estimate rather than the recorded market capitalization. After the July peak the token joined the general decline, and by the mid 2020s its market capitalization had fallen to a small fraction of one percent of the high.

In June 2026 the project migrated to an entirely new pump.fun contract. The team announced the move for June 8, 2026 at 9am EST, citing a bloated market cap to liquidity ratio on the original token and a wish to gain access to pump.fun's creator fee system; holders who migrated early were guaranteed a 1:1 launch price, while late migrators took a 15 percent penalty, with proportional ownership otherwise preserved. The migrated token spiked to a new all time high near 0.004216 dollars on June 10, 2026, two days after the migration, then decayed to an all time low near 0.0006027 dollars on August 16, 2026. As of August 19, 2026 its market capitalization sat near 661,000 dollars on a 1 billion token supply, trading mainly on [[PumpSwap]].

## Cultural impact

MUMU gave the trenches a coin for the market's oldest inside joke. The mumu character predates Solana meme culture entirely, and tokenizing him collapsed the distinction between posting about the market and betting on it: holding MUMU was a leveraged position on bullish sentiment itself. Its off cycle July 2024 peak is cited in [[the trenches]] as a reminder that rotation can favor latecomers, and the coin appears in retrospectives alongside [[PONKE]] and [[gigachad]] as part of the 2024 personality mascot canon.
