MarsCoin ($MARSCOIN) is a memecoin on BNB Chain whose entire thesis is a five year old post. It became one of August 2026's most watched trench trades after [[Unipcs]] disclosed an early call on the [[fomo]] app, and its name proved so magnetic that even unrelated clones of it moved millions.

## Origin

In February 2021, in an X thread with Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), Elon Musk wrote "There will definitely be a MarsCoin!" after CZ floated the name. The same day, [[CZ]] posted his own follow up, "Looks like we will have a MarsCoin. In foresight, it is inevitable," a reply that drew 3,830 likes, more engagement than is typically cited for the exchange with Musk. The prophecy was kept alive as a running joke directed at CZ for more than five years before the 2026 token existed, with people repeatedly asking him "where is Marscoin" in 2021, again in October 2025, and again through mid 2026. No such coin ever came from either man. In late July 2026, with CZ increasingly active around the BNB memecoin scene, an anonymous team launched $MARSCOIN through the Four.meme launchpad, marketing it around that exchange as, in community framing, the memecoin CZ and Elon predicted. Neither CZ nor Musk is involved, and this token is also unrelated to the 2014 Litecoin fork Marscoin. Community posts noted Binance Wallet later included MarsCoin in a new Stock Meme Coins section alongside Robinhood Chain tickers and that it was listed on Binance Alpha, claims made by named traders on X.

## Market history

Per CryptoSlate data, $MARSCOIN printed its all time low on July 29, 2026 and an all time high of about $0.064 on August 4, a market value of roughly $52.64 million with 24 hour volume of $30.94 million at that time. MARSCOIN pairs with SPCX, a tokenized SpaceX stock product, and holders receive SPCX rewards simply for holding, marketed explicitly as "the first BNB memecoin pooled with tokenized stocks." Unipcs said he first bought and called it on fomo at about a $3.2 million market cap and posted days later that it was up over 1,000 percent, citing it alongside his $PONS and $BRODIE entries; he separately acknowledged the position as "$MARSCOIN exposure on BNB." The coin then cooled, trading near a $31 million market cap as of August 18, 2026.

A widely viewed Chinese language breakdown (9,323 views) attributed the run to a combination of factors: the Binance Wallet stock meme sector listing pairing it with $SPCX, [[Elon Musk]]'s contemporaneous Mars related posts, MarsCoin being the only BNB Chain entry among that period's set of "stock meme" tokens, and the 2021 CZ and Musk exchange (@SuperL9, July 28, 2026).

The name itself kept generating volatility. On August 16, when CZ performed routine spam token burns from his public wallet, speculators read the transactions as a signal and sent an unrelated MarsCoin clone from about a $40,000 market cap to $30 million before it collapsed back toward $5 million; Bitcoin.com News reported one trader made about $282,000 on the spike while another lost about $110,000. The clone frenzy was extensive well beyond that single incident: at least five distinct MARSCOIN contract addresses circulated simultaneously on BNB Chain during the run up, and the community explicitly distinguished the "real" BNB Chain token from what one trader called "the wrong marscoin they tried running on RH," referring to a separate Robinhood Chain attempt (@ChoppaXO, July 27, 2026).

One widely viewed community lament (34,080 views, 128 likes) captured the string of failed clone launches that preceded the version that actually ran: "Roundtripped every marscoin to paperhand the final one. Thanks for playing" (@cryptokillua99, July 28, 2026). The official account marked the breakout with its own line: "The Prophecy Has Been Fulfilled" (@MarsCoin_BNB, July 27, 2026). The official BNB Chain account itself teased the category addition on X on July 29, 2026, prompting a wave of replies naming "$MarsCoin" as the ticker being referenced, tying the chain's own account into the promotional moment.

## Cultural impact

$MARSCOIN fused the two strongest founder narratives on crypto Twitter, CZ and Elon, into one ticker, and taxonomy posts of the era filed it simply as the "cz + elon thesis" coin. Its run, and the clone frenzy around CZ's wallet, became the reference example of how a dormant celebrity quote can be resurrected as a trading narrative in [[the trenches]]. Some traders framed the run as a comeback for the launchpad itself: @bigwarzeth called it "an insane launchpad comeback" for Flap.sh, implying Flap had been largely written off before this token revived interest in it, a framing distinct from the project's own Four.meme listing described above. The story is ongoing.
