Jotchua (JOTCHUA) is a meme coin on the [[Solana]] blockchain launched through [[pump.fun]] in June 2026. It is based on Jotchua, the golden retriever puppy from a 2021 Mexican Facebook adoption post whose cropped photo became one of the defining pets of Spanish speaking internet culture.

## Origin

The source image comes from a Facebook post offering two puppies for adoption in Mexico. One of them was cropped out and recirculated endlessly, gaining the nickname "Perro Dinero" (money dog) along with the folk belief that setting him as a profile picture brings wealth, plus the affectionate names "Esquizo" and "Jotchua," a phonetic spelling of Joshua. The meme had been tokenized before, and several Jotchua tokens circulated from 2025 onward, but the June 2026 pump.fun launch under the @JotchuaTheMeme banner became the canonical chart during the summer animal rotation. CoinGecko dates that launch to June 10, 2026, and records it shipping with dedicated features beyond a simple token, a custom profile picture maker and a live community meme wall. The official account credits a specific figure with bringing the meme onchain, listing "Creator Onboarded @_kingorange."

## Market history

The token graduated in the first week of June 2026 and then produced the move it is known for: on June 9, 2026 KuCoin's news desk reported the coin up more than 100x within a single day, crossing a 5.7 million dollar market capitalization. ## August 2026 revival

The coin rallied again in August 2026, on the same original contract, not a new one. DexScreener confirms the actively trading Jotchua is still BcHEaaTCvycPwwsJ9yQTXdHP9X2gCLkznDbZ8VySpump, the mint that launched in June 2026; its main pools moved from roughly 1 million dollars market capitalization in mid August to about 3.4 million dollars by August 20, 2026, up roughly 48 to 55 percent in 24 hours on each pool, and roughly tripling the mid August figure.

The trigger was a repeat call, not a fresh discovery. @realdogen, a 196,878 follower account, posted "run the dog back $JOTCHUA" on August 20, 2026, echoing a call he had made before, "forever hold $JOTCHUA," on July 6, 2026. The August 20 post drew a real time reply wave through the day rather than a single viral spike. Pump.fun's own ecosystem tracker account, @PumpfunEco, amplified the move twice on August 20: first crediting trader @peacefuldestroy with holding a Jotchua bag worth $75,800 after not selling for more than 74 days, then ranking Jotchua the 5th most traded pump.fun coin by 24 hour volume at $2.9 million, behind [[The Black Bull]]'s $ANSEM ($14.4 million), [[Fartcoin]] ($7.2 million), [[Catecoin]]'s $CATE ($5.1 million) and $BULLSHIT ($3.7 million). Traders explicitly paired Jotchua with cate as a matched trade during the run, part of a broader rotation back into established pump.fun coins from earlier in the platform's history.

Despite the bottom up nature of the rally, the official @JotchuaTheMeme account was actively posting through the window, including "V I B E C H U A" hours before the lead tweet and "All in." later the same day, without naming or announcing the price move itself; the revival ran on holder enthusiasm and cross promotion rather than a coordinated team announcement.

At least five copycat or imitation tokens also using the Jotchua name traded across Solana and Robinhood Chain during the same window, each under roughly $6,000 market cap with negligible volume; all trading volume of consequence stayed on the original contract.
