Haze is the co founder of GMGN, the meme coin trading terminal dominant among Chinese speaking traders, a former quant trading employee who built his way from NFT tracking tools to one of the busiest platforms in the trenches.

Haze is the co founder of gmgn, the trading terminal that became the default venue for meme coin trading among Chinese speaking participants in the trenches and one of the highest volume interfaces on Solana. He posts as @haze0x and is known in Chinese crypto media by a nickname rendered as Chicken Brother. Unusually for a terminal founder, he gives long interviews about his background and philosophy, making him one of the better documented builders of the era.

Background

Born in 1985 in Hunan province, Haze has described a deliberately ordinary pre crypto life: a standard office job, no grand ambitions, and by his own account no special technical genius. He encountered Bitcoin through a news report around the end of 2017 and decided it was an opportunity worth pursuing. In 2018 he joined a quantitative trading firm focused on grid trading, where he learned the mechanics of markets and automation. He went on to lead the China operation of portfolio tracker BitUniverse and was an early member at the exchange Pionex, then founded NFTTrack, an analytics tool for NFT traders, before pivoting with the market toward meme coins.

In the PANews version of his 2025 interview he describes himself as an INTJ and a pure introvert who performs extroversion for community building, a reader of The Art of War, and a rap fan who listens to Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Trap and Memphis rap; the ChainCatcher version, conducted by Tian Daxia and published March 27, 2025, sources his "stay sharp" mantra to that fandom: "Rap makes me constantly feel sharp, and working with the team, we also hope to maintain that sharpness." He also coauthored a "0 to $10M Meme Operations Guide" with several KOLs. Other lines from the interview circulate as his operating philosophy: "Getting things done is more important than making money" and "Right now, we are just on the trend; we still need to be cautious and do things well."

GMGN

GMGN launched in May 2023 to attack a specific problem: on chain meme trading was too slow. IQ.wiki dates the founding to June 2023, with Haze conceiving the product and its name and cofounder Jerry Ma serving as CEO; the name derives from "good morning, good night," signifying 24/7 service. The terminal fused real time token discovery, smart money wallet tracker feeds, copy trading and one click execution into a single surface, and rode the pump fun explosion to enormous scale; by November 2024 it was handling around 14 million monthly visits and 600,000 trades a day, with a team of roughly 30, daily revenue exceeding 700,000 dollars, and servers that crashed six times in four days that month after a roughly 600 percent volume surge. In interviews Haze attributes the platform's endurance to staying sharp and long termism, keeping a small team focused on execution speed while competitors chased token launches and incentive programs. GMGN expanded aggressively as the launchpad wars unfolded, adding support for PumpSwap and rival venues as flow migrated.

GMGN has no native token and no buyback per IQ.wiki; its incentives are a referral program with rebates of up to 30 percent and a points mall where trading points redeem physical goods. Haze has posted photos of a user redeeming a MacBook Pro through the mall, and published a long apology and rework note when a redemption round went badly. He has also claimed the GMGN API was built end to end by AI, writing in March 2026 that "the code was entirely completed by AI itself, including future feature iterations... For Agent, By Agent." His personal stake and net revenue are not published.

Platform wars and incidents

GMGN's main rival through 2025 and 2026 was Axiom. Crypto Briefing reported on August 8, 2026 that GMGN's annualized revenue run rate was roughly 115 million dollars against Axiom's roughly 237 million; Axiom's cumulative revenue since early 2025 exceeded 453 million dollars with peak daily revenue up to 2 million dollars in April 2025 and, at times, an estimated 72 percent share of Solana trading bot volume, with recent GMGN strength driven by BSC activity.

The platform's MEV record has drawn scrutiny. Research cited by crypto.news found over 260,000 sandwich attacks on Solana in a 30 day window in spring 2025, about 30.8 percent of them occurring on GMGN with roughly 23,600 SOL lost; Haze promised "If it has been verified that MEV was enabled [during the attack] and you were sandwiched, we will compensate you," with claims processed by transaction hash. On October 25, 2025 a sandwich exploit of GMGN's BSC anti sandwich nodes ran about 13 hours and hit 729 transactions; GMGN confirmed full automatic reimbursement by October 26, with Haze saying the team "calculated the losses and completed the compensation distribution." In May 2026 the trader KayTheDoc publicly demanded answers from GMGN over an affiliate he accused of rugging coins ("is this YOUR AFFILIATE? RUGGING COINS? is this what gmgn stands for"), an accusation aimed at the platform's referral network rather than at Haze personally.

Haze personally front ran the Robinhood Chain meta, posting in Chinese on July 13, 2026, "Robinhood needs to list 1 MEME COIN. It's time." By July 16 GMGN had integrated 22 Robinhood Chain launchpads, and a July 24, 2026 dataset showed GMGN leading Robinhood Chain bot volume at 60.6 million dollars daily, ahead of fomo and Axiom.

Public presence

Haze's X bio functions as a disclosure in itself: "Cooking ... Don't copy trade my wallet, I will sell it at any time. I have no reason for my trade, just testing the product." The account had 139,000 followers as of August 19, 2026, joined February 2018, with smart followers including CZ, Justin Sun, and pump.fun's alon per TwitterScore. He posts like a user of his own casino, as in a July 24, 2026 dispatch: "Bro, I've been stuck in the ROBINHOOD trenches for an hour. What kind of trash tokens are these? Where's the genius DEV?"

In July 2026 he disclosed on his own account, posting in Chinese, that he had nearly left the trenches while being treated for alopecia areata, an immune disorder, describing 20 to 30 scalp injections per session and medication that wrecked his sleep, then announced he was "returning to the trenches bald" with a bald emoji once recovered.

Significance

Haze occupies a distinctive position among trench builders: a trader turned toolmaker whose product profits from volume rather than issuance. GMGN neither launches tokens nor runs curves; it sells speed and information to the people fighting in them, which has largely kept Haze out of the litigation and scandal cycles that consumed launchpad founders. His interviews, unusually candid about luck, timing and the limits of his own foresight, circulate widely in Chinese speaking crypto communities as a builder's account of the meme coin era.
