Hayden Mark Davis is an American token launch operator and the chief executive of [[Kelsier Ventures]], a family firm that became the most infamous launch machine of the trench era. He is best known as the figure behind [[LIBRA]], the [[Solana]] token endorsed by Argentine President Javier Milei in February 2025, whose collapse triggered the [[libra scandal]] and made Davis the era's defining villain archetype: the professional insider standing behind the celebrity face. ## Kelsier Ventures Kelsier is a family operation, per investigations by PANews and ChainCatcher: Hayden's brother Gideon Davis is COO, their father Tom Davis at one point called himself CEO, and mother Emily Chynoweth Davis wrote that the family "created a family business in 2023." The same reporting states that Gideon Davis worked in 2022 on the DeFi project Unlock and its metaverse project NeoNexus, which announced in March 2022 that it had run out of funds and was accused by its community of a soft rug. ## LIBRA and the Milei scandal LIBRA launched on February 14, 2025 and crashed within hours of Milei's endorsement. Blockchain analytics firm Nansen estimated retail losses at about 251 million dollars. In interviews after the collapse, including a widely viewed conversation with the investigator Coffeezilla, Davis acknowledged that entities he controlled held roughly 100 million dollars extracted around the launch, describing the money as held for the project, and admitted LIBRA was a speculative meme token with no investment plan. He has denied intending to defraud anyone, saying the project failed rather than scammed. Reporting also tied Kelsier to the launch mechanics of [[melania]] and other political tokens through infrastructure provided by [[meteora]]. On MELANIA specifically, Davis helped launch Melania Trump's coin on January 19, 2025 and told Coffeezilla he was involved in ensuring its liquidity; the token touched roughly 2 billion dollars in valuation and then fell 75 percent within 24 hours. ## Legal proceedings In March 2025 the Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbón formally requested an Interpol Red Notice for Davis as part of the fraud investigation before Judge María Servini, a request reported by Cointelegraph and others; it was a request rather than a granted notice. In the United States, buyers represented by [[Burwick Law]] filed a class action, and a temporary restraining order froze about 57.6 million dollars in USDC and 500 million LIBRA tokens attributed to Davis. On August 20, 2025, Judge Jennifer Rochon dissolved that freeze, allowing staged monthly releases of the tokens, a decision covered by Protos and CoinCentral. Burwick Law also lists a second active class action, Hurlock v. Kelsier, against Meteora, Kelsier Ventures, and Davis over the M3M3 and LIBRA launches. Around June 23, 2025 Davis submitted a voluntary statement to the New York federal court: he denied fraud, insider trading, and knowledge of snipers, blamed the collapse on Milei deleting the endorsement post, challenged New York jurisdiction, and proposed returning approximately 100 million dollars moved on February 14 and 15, 2025. His US defense argued that memecoins "are not investments, have no intrinsic value, but are unsecured, uncollateralized affinities and collectibles with extremely high market volatility." In November 2025, Argentine Federal Judge Marcelo Giorgi ordered a new freeze of assets connected to the LIBRA investigation, targeting Davis and two intermediaries; prosecutors flagged a transfer of 507,500 dollars sent by Davis through the exchange Bitget less than an hour after Milei posted a selfie with him, writing that it could constitute possible indirect payments to public officials. On April 5, 2026 the querella led by investor Martín Romeo asked Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi to summon Davis for formal questioning among 16 people, attributing to him orchestration of the financial arrangements, an August 1, 2024 visit to Argentina's Central Bank, and a 1.55 million dollar bribery agreement; these are querella allegations. Davis has denied wrongdoing throughout. Through August 19, 2026 there had been no extradition, no granted Interpol notice, no confirmed reporting of his whereabouts, and no reported ruling on any motion to dismiss or class certification in the US case. ## YZY and other launches Davis's name resurfaced during the Kanye West token launch. On August 25, 2025, the analytics firm [[bubblemaps]] published a report alleging that Davis coordinated a [[sniper]] operation on the YZY token that generated about 12 million dollars in profit across 14 connected wallets, an allegation reported by CryptoSlate and CoinCentral; Davis did not confirm the report. He also said publicly that he had refunded Dave Portnoy about 5 million dollars for losses Portnoy took trading LIBRA, a claim covered by crypto media and discussed in the [[trump coin launch]] aftermath discourse. Bubblemaps had earlier connected him to WOLF, a token that peaked near a 40 million dollar market cap on March 8, 2025 before collapsing 99 percent: its analysis published March 15, 2025 found 82 percent of WOLF supply controlled by linked wallets and traced the deployment wallet to accounts Davis used for LIBRA and MELANIA. In February 2026, BeInCrypto reported that Bubblemaps had linked a Davis wallet to the second largest private allocation in [[pump.fun]]'s July 2025 [[PUMP token ICO]], 50 million dollars of USDC for 12.5 billion PUMP, with roughly 80 percent of the tokens moved to exchanges within days for an estimated 15 million dollar profit; the attribution is Bubblemaps'. The Argentine outlet Diario de Cuyo reported on April 1, 2026 that investigators view the PUMP participation as a new suspected maneuver following the same pattern as LIBRA. ## Legacy Within [[the trenches]], Davis became shorthand for the professionalized [[insider]] launch: presale allocations, unilateral liquidity pulls, and a celebrity out front. The phrase Kelsier style launch survives as a pejorative for any token whose supply map looks decided in advance. ## References - Cointelegraph: https://cointelegraph.com/news/argentina-lawyer-interpol-arrest-warrant-libra-creator - BeInCrypto: https://beincrypto.com/libra-scandal-arrest-warrant-hayden-davis/ - Protos: https://protos.com/us-judge-drops-hayden-davis-freezing-order-frees-up-500m-libra-tokens/ - coincentral.com: https://coincentral.com/us-court-unfreezes-hayden-daviss-58m-in-usdc-and-libra-tokens/ - Yahoo Finance: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/argentina-freezes-hayden-davis-assets-223000417.html - Decrypt: https://decrypt.co/348035/argentina-libra-meme-coin-case-frozen-funds-payments-probe-report - CryptoSlate: https://cryptoslate.com/hayden-davis-allegedly-sniped-kanye-wests-yzy-token-to-make-12-million-in-profits/ - coincentral.com: https://coincentral.com/hayden-davis-linked-to-12-million-profit-from-kanyes-yzy-token/ - PANews: https://www.panewslab.com/en/articles/ybfvn47r - CryptoSlate: https://cryptoslate.com/us-entrepreneur-hayden-davis-testifies-in-libra-case-in-new-york-as-legal-proceedings-advance/ - buenosairesherald.com: https://buenosairesherald.com/politics/libra-scandal-hayden-davis-denies-scam-accusations-in-new-york-declaration - mitrade.com: https://www.mitrade.com/insights/news/live-news/article-3-989216-20250726 - burwick.law: https://www.burwick.law/active-cases - infobae.com: https://www.infobae.com/judiciales/2026/04/06/libra-la-querella-pidio-la-indagatoria-de-javier-milei-adorni-y-otros-14-involucrados-en-el-caso/ - Yahoo Finance: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-coin-insider-hayden-davis-181637553.html - diariodecuyo.com.ar: https://www.diariodecuyo.com.ar/politica/libra-investigan-nuevas-maniobras-hayden-davis-otra-operacion-sospechada-n6569691 - nftevening.com: https://nftevening.com/libra-hayden-davis-new-memecoin/ - DL News: https://www.dlnews.com/articles/people-culture/man-behind-milei-memecoin-also-worked-on-melania-trump-coin/ - PANews: https://www.panewslab.com/en/articles/4qfqxh2m - ChainCatcher: https://www.chaincatcher.com/en/article/2168334 - CoinDesk: https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2025/03/13/lawyer-requests-interpol-red-notice-for-libra-founder-hayden-davis-report - Yahoo Finance: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/libra-promoters-regain-access-57-191944299.html
