Few and probably nothing are companion pieces of crypto Twitter irony. "Few," short for "few understand" or "few understand this," is appended to a post to imply that the information is deep insider knowledge the masses will miss. "Probably nothing" is attached to news the poster believes is actually significant, deadpanning that it can be safely ignored. Both phrases invert their literal meaning: "few" claims importance through exclusivity, "probably nothing" claims it through understatement, and both give the poster plausible deniability if the call ages badly.

## Origin

"Few understand this" grew out of Bitcoin Twitter, where it accompanied claims about monetary economics and adoption that mainstream finance dismissed; chroniclers of Bitcoin meme culture such as Jameson Lopp and Jimmy Song list it among the canon phrases expressing that adopters are early and conventional wisdom is wrong. The clipped one word form "few" became a reply in its own right. "Probably nothing" spread across the wider web3 space in the 2021 NFT era, with glossaries crediting popularization to accounts including BowTiedBull, and it was prominent enough by November 2021 that CoinDesk titled an essay about crypto skepticism "Probably Nothing." MarketsWiki and multiple NFT slang dictionaries carry entries for the phrase.

## Usage

Both phrases are dual use: sincere and satirical. A [[kol]] teasing an [[alpha group]] call will caption a screenshot "few," while critics use the same word to mock empty mystique, and "probably nothing" is as likely to flag a genuine catalyst as to ridicule [[hopium]] posting (see [[cope and hopium]]). In the [[trenches]] the phrases attach to onchain breadcrumbs: an [[insider]] wallet accumulating, a [[dev]] linking a new domain, an exchange test transfer. Because the irony is fully legible to everyone, the phrases now function mostly as tone markers, signaling that the poster is fluent in [[crypto twitter]] rather than conveying real information.
